I would like to apologize if you got more than one email from me. I had a glitch where I screwed up the pointer and was sending people to last months blog. I did not realize it until I had already sent 20 emails.

My ISP only allows me to send so many emails at a time before they think I am spamming. I cut that number in half and only send 10 emails every 30 minutes. Each of your emails are personalized and only you get that information. Long story short I stopped the mailing to take care of some personal things and forgot where I left off. Anyway, some of you got more than one copy of the email. I will try to do a better job next month.

Class of 1972 50^th Reunion Planning we had a Zoom reunion committee meeting on Wednesday September 8, 2021. In no particular order those in attendance were:

Information we have so far:

Mark Your Calendar! The date for the reunion is August 20, 2022. The Venue is The Courtyard by Marriott. It is one of the nicest in Springfield! It is downtown and in walking distance to Mother Stewarts Brewery and the Springfield CoHatch. There are also a multitude of restaurants all within walking distance. So far, we have 114 people that are planning to attend. We hope to have twice that number by 2022!

We also have a block of rooms that are ready to reserve. We have a special rate for the following days August 19, 2022, August 20, 2022, and August 21, 2022. Make sure you select the dates before you check availability. If you need a room for days outside of these, you should call the Springfield Marriott. You will need to negotiate a price for days outside the NHS Block.

What we are working on:

First I would like to thank everone on the reunion committee. Thanks for stepping up!

Bank Account – Larry Ricketts and Deb Baldwin have opened a checking account so we can have a good accounting of our expenses. Now we must figure out how to put something in that bank account. LOL

I would like to thank Pete Stathopoulos for helping get us started. His donation will help with our expenses.

If you would like to help with expenses, please mail a check to Larry Ricketts and make it payable to “NHS Class of 72” write donation in the memo line of the check. We have not decided on a price of tickets for the reunion, that information should be coming shortly. It will depend on expenses, and we are slowly getting those figured out. Paul Numbers is working on a spreadsheet for those.

If you need Larry’s address it was on the flyer we mailed. If you cannot find it, please contact me. You can contact me through the website or contact me directly I am sure all of you have my contact information.

Music for the Reunion – Charlene Boccardi has found a DJ for our event. DJ Mike Stooksberry can provide musical entertainment for our August 20^th main event. He is a ’77 North High School graduate. Mike has provided musical entertainment in the Springfield area for over 20 years for events ranging from weddings to car cruise ins, using many genres of music designed to suit the mood and various activities during the event. The music will begin with the first “hellos” to until everyone leaves the dance floor. He is also very reasonably priced. More information coming on this.

Memorial Tree – Gayla Hypes has paved the way and we have permission to plant a tree on the grounds at the new Springfield High School. There will be more information coming on this.

Finding our lost classmates – We sent out a flyer mailing to see who was interested in coming. Here are the results:

• We mailed 334 flyers to classmates for which we had addresses.
• We got 30 back for bad addresses. The addresses are at least 10 years old. I know I have moved in the last 10 years.
• We used some search engines on the internet and found 25 new addresses for the 30 that were returned, mailed new flyers to those 25. We will see how those work out.

Here are the results we have for our classmates now.

• 152 that have a verified their information or are on Facebook.
• 60 are deceased.
• 3 have asked to not be contacted.
• 215 total classmates so far.

This is a pretty good start. We need your help! Would you help us out by looking at the classmate list and making sure we have information for classmates in your address book. This is our 50th reunion and we would like to reach everybody! Here is the link to the Classmate list.
